Music Informatics gets MeTAMuSE Funding

The A.W. Mellon Foundation has decided to fund in full the MeTAMuSE project. In the words of the grant proposal, MeTAMuSE (the name stands for "Methodologies and Technologies for Advanced Musical Score Encoding") is "the first phase of a large project leading to the development of the first large-scale on-line scholarly knowledge-base of music for academic and practicing musicians, musicologists, music theorists, music analysis, and other people interested in music and its many related fields of study." MeTAMuSE is a joint project of IU, whose research will be led by Donald Byrd of the Music Informatics group, and Goldsmiths College of London, and will last for two years.
